Purchasing the Game
Hey,
If I were to purchase the latest expansion of Guild Wars, will I need to purchase all of the other expansions, including the original game? I can't seem to find this question answered anywhere. |

If you buy GW: Eye ofthe North, you will need one of the other 3 chapters. If you but Nightfall, factions, or Prophecies, you won't need anything else.
Buying the Platinum edition, which contains both Prophecies and EotN, would be a good idea for any new player! |

Let's clear up a few things in your post/mind.
The separate titles of Guild Wars - Prophecies (the original game), Factions, and Nightfall - are not expansions, they are complete, stand-alone chapters. So no, you would not need to have all three to enjoy Guild Wars. You might decide later to buy them, however, because your character can traverse from chapter to chapter by way of continent travel through missions, but only if you own the additional chapter(s). Now, Eye of the North is the expansion to Guild Wars. It is added quests, missions and area that is accessible from any one of the three chapters, via a specific quest unique to that chapter. For instance, Prophecies includes a quest which once completed will provide a portal or entryway into the Eye of the North (EotN) content. Factions and Nightfall also have their own quests which tie them to EotN. Does that answer your question? Shane |

no , it just contains Prophecis, which is 1st chapter of Guild Wars and EotN, which is the expansion to Guild Wars. So you would still miss Factoin and Night Fall, but as someone said it above Prophecis, Faction and Night Fall are stand-alone chapters so you don't need them in order to play Guild Wars.

Ok. I appreciate everyone's answers.
Can I enjoy the game, without purchasing Factions and Nightfall, as a new player? Will I be missing out on a lot? I did own the game at release date, but I don't remember the associated email address to reactivate my account and many new things have happened since, so I decided to repurchase it instead. |

you should try and remember it.... if you've it since release date, you should have both the 1st year and 2nd year birthday presents, and the 3rd year birthday present should come out in a week. if you sell those, it would be a very nice headstart....again

Just for the record, there are 2 different platinum editions currently. The Prophecies Platinum which is Prophecies + Eye of the North and the Factions Platinum which contains prophecies and Factions. Infact here in Canada, you can get the Factions Platinum + Eye of the North for the same price as the Prophecies Platinum from Futureshop.
